Mystery Schools
One source of inspiration for The Edge are the ancient mystery schools. What are mystery schools? Here follows a quote by Paul Solomon, founder of the Fellowship of the Inner Light, from a lecture given by him at Findhorn in october 1977.
“As I went through a period of looking, discovering, reading and trying to inform myself, the most exciting concept that I came across was the concept of the mystery schools. Nothing was ever more intriguing to me than the idea that somewhere, hidden back in a forest, in the mountains, somewhere where nobody could find it unless he was enlightened, was a mystery school. A very, very special school where masters - those who had actually mastered all of the arts and sciences and spiritual cultures and had evolved beyond anybody else on this plane - were in residence. The concept of the mystery school says nobody can even make an application to such a place. The only thing that you can do is handle your lessons so well that one of these masters will discover you. He will find you. Through his influence you will be accepted in into his mystery school where your consciousness will be molded through a series of initiations until you have the opportunity to grow as fast as a human can grow because the lessons are presented very carefully by real master teachers. How exciting that was to me! If there was anything I wanted, it was to purify myself, get my act together and get to a mystery school. I was absolutely determined that I was going to do it.
The only problem was that everything in the literature of mystery schools referred to schools way back, centuries ago, around Pythagoras and in ancient Egypt even before Pythagoras when Hermes and Ra were teaching there. Everything about mystery schools was ancient, and yet there was always a phrase that said: ‘There are still mystery schools today. Nobody can find them, but they are there and if you are ready the teacher will appear and take you there’.”
Yes, there are mystery schools today, and The Edge is one of them. In the philosophy of The Edge, Communion with the Mystery is one of the main roads to spiritual growth and leadership. That’s why Communion with the Mystery is one of the foundations on which The Edge is built. The masters are there. And that is why it is a mystery school. It is not hidden in a forest or in a mountain valley, but in the wilderness of Internet. And you, because you read this text, has found it. Actually you didn’t find it yet, you only found the virtual representation. So now it is up to you: De you feel or hear the calling of the School? Then it is your path to connect with us and enter, and it would be a waste to miss it. You may not be enlightened, but you are ready for The Edge. If you don’t feel the calling, it might not be your way, or it isn’t your time yet.
Dawning is the day
Rise, let us see you.Dawning is the day.
Miss, misty meadow,
You will find your way.
Wake up in the morning to yourself and leave this crazy life behind you.
Listen, we’re trying to find you.
Flow to the sea,
You know where to go,
Still we are free,
No one tells the wind which way to blow.
Wake up in the morning to yourself.
Open your eyes and start to be you.
Listen, we think we can see you.
There is no price upon your head.
Sing it, shout it.
Now the angry words have all been said.
Do it, don’t doubt it.
So rise, let us see you.
Dawning is the day.
Miss, misty meadow,
You will find your way.
Wake up in the morning to yourself, open your head and look around you.
Listen, we think we have found you.
